Ford's line of F350 Super Dutys are noted for being rugged and reliable while surpisingly comfortable. Year after year Ford continues to dominate domestic truck sales, with good reason. The 2006 F350 truck amply carries on that tradition.
The 06 F350 offers the usual slew of options in cab style, engine, interior, and axles configurations. Three cabs are offered, the base two door regular cab, the extended Super Crew that offers two small rear opening doors for rear seat access, and the Crew Cab with four full size doors, which offers the maximum of convenience for entrance and egress. Three time levels are offered, XL, XLT, and the luxurious Lariat. Two gasoline and one diesel motor are available with the F350 2006 model. The base powerplant is a 5.4 liter gas burning V8 that generates an even 300 horsepower and 365 foot pounds of torque. The absolute most horses comes in the form of a 6.8 liter V10 gas engine that 362 horsepower and 457 foot-pounds of torque. For those who plan to be doing serious towing and hauling witthe theri F350 06 model, far and away the best choice is the 6 liter Powerstroke turbodiesel V8 that puts out 325 horsepower and a whopping 570 foot pounds of torque. All engines come with a six speed manual transmission standard, but a five speed automatic tranny with a towing and hauling mode is an option. In the right configuration, the 06 F350 is rated to tow up to 19,600 pounds. 2 and 4 wheel drive is available across the board.
The interior is roomy, as one would expect from a truck of this size. Storage size is a very big plus in the 2006 F350 truck, with generous side pockets on the doors and a center console big enough to stow a laptop. Like all F-series trucks of recent years, F350 06 models are very quiet for their size and power, and have one of the most civilized rides in their class. This is one heavy duty work truck that the spouse and kids won't mind riding in from time to time.
