Body Styles, Trim Levels, And Features
Ford offers abundant options in body style, trim level, and engine, trans, and configuration. There is an F350 to please everyone. Three cab styles offered, the basic two door Regular cab, the extended Super Cab with two small rearward opening doors givin access to the rear seats, and the Crew Cab with four full sized doors, tremendously convenient when you are hauling the whole crew around.
Three trim levels are available, the base XL, the midlevel XLT, and the creme de le creme, the plush Lariat. The XL is your basic no frills work truck, that features bench seating, vinyl upholstery and flooring, a simple AM/FM radio, manually operated windows, locks, and mirrors, and cup holders. Moving up to the XLT gains air conditioning as a standard featured, fully powered mirrors, windows, and locks, cloth uphostery, adjustable front seating, a CD player, chrome bumpers, and cruise control. Springing for the Lariat will gain such luxurious niceties as leather upholstery, power adjustable driver's seats, and step running boards.
The available FX4 package offers a number of improvements aimed at improving off road performance, including skid plates, beefed up El Ranch shocks, and a steering damper. For those who want top grain leather interior, the King Ranch Package is available.
Under the Hood
Four engines are available with the 03 F350, two gasoline and two diesels. The base engine across all trim levels is a 5.4 liter v8 gas burner which puts out 260 horsepower and 350 foot pounds of torque. An available 6.8 liter 10 cylinder gasoline engine adds even more, giving you over 300 horsepower and 400 foot pounds of torque. But for serious work, far and away the most advisable selection is one of the diesel power option. The 7.3 liter Powerstroke diesel puts out over 300 horsepower, and more importantly, over 525 foot pounds of twist, for serious oomph at the low end. For those requiring even more brawn in the F350 03 model, the 6 liter Powerstroke turbodiesel is also available in mid year released vehicles. All engine variations come mated to a six speed manual transmission as standard, with a five speed automatic tranny with towing mode as an available options. All Body Styles and trim levels of the F350 2003 model year are available with either 2 or 4 wheel drive.
